Article 1 | Acceptance of general terms and conditions
The general terms and conditions of sale determines all relations between The Alliance Française Rotterdam and its members in the context of registrations for training, except where expressly indicated in writing.
By registering for training or placing an order, the member acknowledges having read these conditions and accepting them without reservation. They apply from the validation of the registration.
Article 2 | Minimum age
Training is intended for persons aged at least 18
However, a minor may be registered with the agreement and under the responsibility of a parent or legal guardian who signs the registration form.
In case of difficulty with integration or a problem related to the course, and upon the teacher’s recommendation, The Alliance Française Rotterdam reserves the right to cancel the registration. In this case, a refund prorated to the courses attended may be made.
Standard courses are mainly intended for an adult audience. Enrolled minors therefore participate in an environment designed for adults. The Alliance Française Rotterdam declines all specific liability related to the presence of minors in these courses.
Article 3 | Registration conditions
Registrations are personal and cannot be transferred to another person.
By validating their registration, the member commits to following the chosen training, subject to the cancellation or postponement provisions provided for in Article 5.
For standard courses, the student must possess the required teaching materials.
Article 4 | Refusal of registration
The Alliance Française Rotterdam reserves the right to refuse a registration or its renewal, particularly in case of inappropriate behavior or non-compliance with internal rules.
Article 5 | Cancellation – Postponement – Refund
Any cancellation request made within 15 days following the start of the session may result in a refund of training fees prorated to the courses already provided, whether the member attended them or not. Administrative fees of €50 will be applied.
Beyond this 15-day period, no refund will be granted. However, a credit corresponding to the remaining amount of the training (excluding administrative fees) may be considered.
The member may also request a postponement of the training, valid for 6 months from the date of the request and subject to the availability of sessions offered by The Alliance Française Rotterdam.
Any request for a refund or postponement must be made via the official form provided for this purpose.
CASE OF FORCE MAJEURE
In case of force majeure (pandemic, natural disaster, government measures, etc.), The Alliance Française Rotterdam reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel a course or session. In this case, no refund will be made, but the training may be postponed to a later session.
Article 6 | Prices and payment methods
Training fees correspond to the rates published on The Alliance Française Rotterdam’s communication media (website, brochures, online shop, etc.).
These rates include:
- course fees
- administrative fees
Full payment must be made before the start of the training. Any bank charges are the responsibility of the client.
Payment in multiple installments is possible via the online shop for a maximum amount of €2000.
For higher amounts:
adults can pay in 2 installments
children in 2 or 3 installments
Additional fees of €10 per installment will be applied. In this case, a payment schedule will be established by the administration. The member is responsible for respecting the deadlines, as no automatic debit is made.
The Alliance Française Rotterdam may refuse access to courses if registration formalities are not complete.
Article 7 | Payment delay
Any payment not made 30 days after registration or after the date provided in the payment schedule will result in a flat-rate penalty of €50.
Article 8 | Cancellation or modification of a training by the alliance française rotterdam
The Alliance Française Rotterdam may cancel or modify a training if the conditions necessary for the smooth running of the course are not met (security, organization, teaching quality) or in case of force majeure.
Training may also be canceled if fewer than 5 participants are registered.
In this case, with the agreement of the participants, the duration of the training may be adapted:
4 students: 20 hours instead of 25
3 students: 15 hours instead of 25
2 students: 10 hours instead of 25
In case of cancellation, members will be informed by email and may choose:
- to register for another training
- request a refund
The request must be made within a period of 3 months after receipt of the email. After this period, the fees will be considered definitively acquired.
If a course is canceled after the start of the training and the member chooses to cancel their registration, the refund will be calculated prorated to the courses already provided.
Article 9 | Certificates and attestations
Upon request, The Alliance Française Rotterdam may issue:
- a registration certificate
- a certificate of attendance
These documents will only be issued after full payment of fees.
They can no longer be requested 6 months after the end of the training.
Article 10 | Evaluation and advancement to the next level
Advancement to the next level is determined by the teacher based on the evaluation of the student’s progress, in order to ensure the pedagogical coherence of the groups.
Article 11 | Teachers and premises
The Alliance Française Rotterdam designates teachers and classrooms.
It is not guaranteed that the same teacher will conduct an entire session.
In case of a teacher’s absence, The Alliance Française Rotterdam will endeavor to ensure their replacement. If that is not possible, the course will be postponed.
The Alliance Française Rotterdam declines all liability in case of cancellation or schedule change resulting from the behavior of a student or a third party.
Article 12 | Right to image
Photos may be taken during courses and used for communication purposes (website, brochures, etc.).
By signing the registration form, the member accepts the use of these images. Any opposition must be communicated in writing before the start of the courses.
Article 13 | Intellectual property rights
Teaching materials are protected by copyright.
They cannot be copied, distributed, or stored in a database without authorization, except for personal use within the scope of the training followed.
Article 14 | Liability
The Alliance Française Rotterdam commits to providing the necessary pedagogical means for the training but cannot guarantee the achievement of the students’ personal goals or certification.
The student commits to following the training with seriousness and diligence.
Article 15 | Reference version
In case of discrepancy between different translations of these general conditions, the Dutch version prevails.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SALE / Private courses
By purchasing private lessons at The Alliance Française Rotterdam, you agree to comply with the policies, procedures, and regulations of The Alliance Française Rotterdam. This includes an agreement with the following terms. You also confirm that the information provided during registration is complete and correct.
ARTICLE 1 | Acceptance of conditions
Unless otherwise provided or modified by these special conditions, the general conditions of The Alliance Française Rotterdam apply in full to private courses.
ARTICLE 2 | Registration
- Private courses are organized on a case-by-case basis. Our private course coordinator works in liaison with members and teachers to find a suitable time slot.
- Our private course coordinator works part-time and processes new requests in chronological order in the order they are received. New requests are managed via a waiting list.
- We strive to respond to requests as soon as possible, in accordance with operational and logistical constraints. Members and/or guardians/parents are encouraged to solicit their private course program at least two weeks before the desired start date.
- All members must submit the online private course form before the private course coordinator can proceed with the organization of their training.
ARTICLE 3 | Organizing your training
- All courses must last at least one and a half hours for adults.
Private courses can be organized at the following locations:At The Alliance Française Rotterdam, Westersingel 14, 3014 GN Rotterdam; or at your place of residence or work (nearby surroundings within an 8km radius).
- Courses taught outside AFR premises will incur additional fees to cover travel expenses. These are calculated based on the distance from The Alliance Française Rotterdam.
- No private course can be organized outside the opening hours of The Alliance Française Rotterdam, on a non-working day, or any other public holiday.
- Due to the evolution of the availability of rooms and other facilities, The Alliance Française Rotterdam is only able to confirm private courses for a “predictable period”, i.e. until our schedule for group courses or other events affecting room allocation changes.
- The dates and times of the courses will be fixed by mutual agreement between the client and the course coordinator before the start. Exceptionally, the client may postpone a course twice per session, provided they contact the administration at least 24 hours in advance. Any cancellation made less than 24 hours before the course will be neither made up nor refunded.
- In case of abandonment of the course, no refund will be made.
ARTICLE 4 | Confirming your training
- All private course packs must be paid in full (or multiple installments if prior agreement obtained) at least 48 hours before your first confirmed course.
- If The Alliance Française Rotterdam has not heard from you within 3 working days following the confirmation of a teacher’s availability by email, your teacher may be reassigned or no longer available.
- When renewing a pack, full payment is required 48 hours before the first session of the new pack.
- A pack of course hours is valid according to the duration established in the table below:

- Private courses do not include manuals or additional material, unless otherwise indicated.
- A course can only begin when the payment has been made and these present general terms and conditions of sale accepted.
ARTICLE 5 | Modification / Cancellation / Postponement of private courses
- Any modification or cancellation must be reported at the latest 24 hours before the scheduled course.
- In the absence of notification of the change after this period, the canceled hours will be lost.
Notifications of modification or cancellation must be addressed by email to cursus@alliancerotterdam.nl, and copied to the teacher.
- Cancellations on behalf of minors must be made by their parents or their guardians.
- If a medical condition, accident, or trauma prevents you from attending courses and you cannot cancel your registration within the indicated deadlines, The Alliance Française Rotterdam can take this into account by providing supporting documents.
- The end time of the course cannot be changed in case of a late arrival of the learner.
- For semi-private courses, no division of the credit will be possible once the courses are confirmed and paid. The Alliance Française Rotterdam cannot be held responsible for modifications made by learners to their professional obligations or personal situation when a student cannot follow semi-private courses.
- In case of the learner’s lateness lasting longer than half the scheduled duration of the concerned course, the teacher will have the right to leave the premises without being required to notify the learner.
When a learner is no longer able to attend courses for the rest of the training, we may be able to organize a partial credit. Credits can be provided strictly in the event of one of the following unforeseen circumstances: following an accident or trauma (supporting documents required); medical treatment preventing the learner from finishing their training (supporting documents required).
- Credit requests must be addressed in writing to the management of The Alliance Française Rotterdam by email at direction@alliancerotterdam.nl.
- Credits will be calculated according to the number of hours initially purchased in the package; the price paid per hour for the initial purchase; and the number of hours remaining of the initially chosen pack.
- Credits are valid for a period of 12 months from the date they were processed.
- The validity of the credit cannot be extended.
- Credits are not transferable.
- The following products are not refundable: administrative fees (€50).
- It is up to the member to ensure the validity duration of the course indicated on the quote is respected. Failing which, the ordered hours will be lost.
- The Alliance Française Rotterdam has the right to cancel and postpone a course, in conditions that suit the teacher and the learner, when the course cannot be held under optimal supervision conditions.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SALE / Exams
ARTICLE 1 | Registration
The candidate’s registration for an exam is done via the site. The registration is taken into account upon receipt of the full payment, the candidate then receives their convocation.
ARTICLE 2 | Registration fees
Registration fees are not refundable.
In case of illness or unforeseen travel, the exam can be postponed once to a later session, provided that the exam management is informed by email (examen@alliancerotterdam.nl) and with the corresponding supporting documents (work stoppage, plane ticket…) and subject to the payment of administrative fees of €50 and the respect of the following deadlines:
- TCF, TEF, DFP: 3 working days
- DELF/DALF: two weeks.
ARTICLE 3 | Diploma shipping fees
Diploma shipping fees (€18 with acknowledgement of receipt) are at the candidate’s expense and must be paid at the time of registration for the exam. Any shipping request made after the exam will be invoiced €25. In case of failure, shipping fees are not refunded, but remain valid for a shipment during a later session.
ARTICLE 4 | Delf/dalf diploma re-edition
The candidate must verify the accuracy of the information provided (surname, first names, date and place of birth). Corrections or additions are possible until the day of the exam. After this date, any modification will be invoiced €50. The re-edition of a diploma is also invoiced €50.
ARTICLE 5 | Re-evaluation of TCF tests
It is possible to request a re-evaluation of the written or oral production. Any request must be formulated in writing and is invoiced €75. If the re-evaluation leads to an improvement in the level, €50 will be refunded. In case of a decrease in the level, no refund will be made.
