DESCRIPTION:🎥 La reine Magot by Patrice Chéreau \nIn August 1572\, Marguerite de Valois was the sister of the King of France. She was young\, beautiful and Catholic. Her mother\, Catherine de Medici\, forced her to marry Henri de Navarre\, who was Protestant. This marriage was intended to bring peace between Catholics and Protestants. \nBut a few days later\, the St. Bartholomew’s Day massacre took place: many Protestants were killed in Paris. Marguerite was used for political purposes\, but despite this\, she fell in love with another Protestant\, the Lord of La Mole. \nJoin the Alliance Française Rotterdam ‘s film club!
