The DELF and the DALF are official diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education. Candidates outside France can use them to guarantee their French language skills. This diploma is recognised throughout the world and is valid for life. Depending on the level passed, the DELF and DALF can add value to a curriculum vitae (CV), and make it easier to get a job in a company where the language spoken is French. Candidates can register for several diplomas during the same session.

The DELF and DALF are made up of 6 different diplomas. These are equivalent to the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For each level, the following 4 skills are assessed:

  • listening skills
  • speaking skills
  • reading skills
  • writing skills
